The ingredient in creams and lotions that help water combine with oils (emulsifiers) are also part of the surfactant (cleanser) family. They will help your makeup stick to them, and wipe right off! ⭐️

‼️ the thicker the cream, the better! (i’ve even tried foot creams for this! In a pinch of course)

Note; I don’t wear water resistant make up, so if you do, it will still work, but not as magically

This tip goes to show you that you don’t need so many products! Don’t be oversold!

Did you know most of the hair in your food comes from your clothes? 😅

Used for conditioning, this ingredient is definitely NOT eco-friendly. It’s not biodegradable, it’s toxic to aquatic organisms, and petroleum-derived. Not EcoCert-approved and not what we want in waterways!

🚫 Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride:
A modified version of natural guar, it may help soften and smooth the hair, but its synthetic chemical structure makes it non-biodegradable and eco-toxic

🚫 Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate:
Hugely used as its inexpensive and easy to find, it’s commonly promoted as “mild and coconut-derived” - but it’s an *ethoxylated surfactant, meaning it’s processed using ethylene oxide, which can leave behind trace amounts of 1,4-dioxane (a potential carcinogen)

✅ A better alternative: Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate (SCG) — gentle, effective, and readily biodegradable.

🚫 Sodium Coco Sulfate:
Coconut-based but it’s environmentally persistent and moderately toxic to aquatic life. “Coco” doesn’t always mean clean.

💡 What’s ethoxylation?
It’s a chemical process using petroleum-derived ethylene oxide. It boosts performance but leaves behind toxic byproducts and hurts biodegradability. Not exactly the “natural” image these bars are selling.

✨ True eco-formulation means choosing ingredients that are safe for your body AND the environment - no shortcuts 🙅‍♀️

BONUS: If you spot “potassium cocoate” or “sodium cocoate” in your bar’s ingredients, chances are it’s really a bar of soap and definitely not the best thing for your scalp,

Is your hair truly dry… or is it just brushed? 🤔

Many hair types - from slightly wavy to curly and coily - can lose their definition when they are brushed, giving the temporary appearance that they’re dry. Don’t be discouraged!

When you brush dry hair that has any slight wave pattern, you are mechanically separating the strands. This can also lift the cuticle (the outermost layer of the hair shaft). Once the cuticle is raised, moisture can escape more easily, and humidity can sneak in causing the hair to swell and appear frizzy or poofy 🤯

This is even more noticeable when:
➰ the hair isn’t well hydrated
➰ there is no leave in conditioner to help smooth and seal the hair
➰ brushing is done on dry hair instead of damp or conditioned hair

Also, more textured hair naturally has more bends and twists so when you pull a brush through it, you’re stretching those curves without defining them, which leads to that expanded cottony look 😒

I have seen this on thousands of people and it really is a quick fix!

✅ Apply a leave in conditioner to your hair when it is damp or wet
✅Then, comb it
✅Let it dry

Day 2:
✅ Re-dampen it using your hands, and scrunch lightly.
✅ apply a touch more leave-in, if necessary (because it does wear off)

Well, they ARE preventible!

Nape Knots (those pain-in-the-butt knots in the back of your neck!) can mess up your hair - and even hurt! 🥺

Did you know we are more prone to getting them in colder months? 😳

As our hair rubs with clothing, back and forth, and especially with fine hair that is unprotected, those hairs hang onto each other like saying “hang on everyone, hold on tight!”

The trick is to prevent them is:

1️⃣ Use a leave in conditioner every day. Even with fine, thin hair. Just use a little bit, and more in the nape area (our Hydrate & Shine leave-in is NON-GREASY, and good for all hair types! ⭐️)

2️⃣ tie up your hair to sleep at night - always be sure it’s totally dry to avoid fungus from growing on your scalp 🦠🤢

3️⃣ if your hair is long, tie it up loosely in the back of your head when wearing winter coats and big sweaters to prevent rubbing and knotting!

4️⃣ on day 2 after a wash (and on subsequent days) don’t be afraid to use leave in conditioner again!

BUT - overheating your hair for extended periods of time WILL break hair bonds - and they are not fixable! You would have to wait till your hair grows out or ✂️ cut it 😞

Best advice:
- SHORT heat bursts are fine
- MUST always protect hair first! (Our Hydrate & Shine leave-in is good for ALL hair types! Game changer!🤩)
- WRAP your hair with a cotton t-shirt to suck in most of the water first, then dry it (if you must 😏)
- If your hair’s been bleached or over-treated, skip the hairdryer altogether! ❌
- AVOID the roots! Or use a diffuser:

Sure, I could’ve paid for delivery, but this way;

✅ I saved a little on gas emissions
✅ I saved a lot on extra packaging of my ingredients
✅ I met some wonderful people
✅ I got out of the office/lab, which is amazing for mental health!

Meeting people in person must be one of the biggest bonuses, because this is how we collaborate to help each other out on a local level
